Mini Biography:
Gowers is a well-regarded composer of classical and modern music whose output includes several virtuoso works for the organ, music for the Three Choirs Festival, and "Guitar Concerto" performed by John Williams in the Sydney Opera House. His "Toccata for Organ" was written for Simon Preston who premiered the work at The Royal Festival Hall on London's South Bank in 1969. He has also worked on a commissioned anthem for Canterbury Cathedral. His stage/film/TV scores include "Share My Lettuce"(musical/1957), "Hamlet"(directed by Tony Richardson/1969), "The Virgin and the Gypsy"(1970), "Stevie"(1978), "Smiley's People", "The Woman in White"(directed by John Bruce/1982), but he is most widely known for his score to "Sherlock Holmes" TV series (1984).
