Mini Biography:
Raymond Alessandrini began playing the piano at the age of five. He won a first prize for piano at Pierre Cancan's class in 1966, and for chamber music at conservatoire national supérieur de musique de Paris in 1967, in addition to in-depth studies in musical composition. In 1969, he met Michel Magne and became his orchestrator. After that, he was in demand as a pianist for various film music composers, such as Elmer Bernstein, Lalo Schifrin, Georges Delerue and Alfred Newman. It was through Georges Delerue that he obtained his first scoring assignment for a television film, "Les joies de la famille Pinelli". He composed part of the music for the film "Chobizenesse" by Jean Yanne, and composed most of the scores for Jean-Charles Tacchella's films. His concert works include Concerto pour saxophone, orchestre à cordes et percussion; Chassé-croisé pour saxophone et piano (Editions Billaudot); Valse lente pour saxophone et piano (Editions Billaudot) ; Piazzolino pour saxophone et piano (Editions Billaudot); La Boîte de Pandore pour saxophone et piano (Editions Billaudot); Studio saxo pour saxophone et piano (Editions Billaudot); Cronos pour saxophone soprano (Editions Billaudot); Les Aventures de Poucette pour flûte à bec et piano; Cinq Psaumes en six mouvements pour chœur mixte, Soprano solo, percussion et 2 pianos (Editions DIEM); Lumière d'entracte pour 3 trompettes et trombone; To Bill or not to Bill pour Piano et Orchestre. His works for the theatre includes Salle obscure de Pierre Philippe; La Sortie au théâtre de Karl Valentin; Antigone de Sophocle; Frisette et La Station Champbaudet d'Eugène Labiche.
