Mini Biography:
Robert Folk is a graduate and former faculty member of the Juilliard school in New York City. Since completing his Doctorate, he has composed and conducted the musical scores for over 65 feature films. He has worked with such filmmakers as Steve Oedekerk, George Gallo, Dan Petrie,Jr., Gary Sinise, Hugh Wilson, Jonathan Betuel, Don Bluth, Jon Davison, Gary Goldman, Steve Rash, David Permut, Andy Hurst, Gene Quintano, Roger Birnbaum, Ron Underwood, Mark Burg, Thom Mount, Paul Maslansky, Micheal Caleo, George Miller, Fred Zollo, Marty Bregman, Gale Ann Hurd, Marco Weber, Ringo Lam, James Robinson, Richard Williams, Jake Eberts, Gary Barber, Boris Damast, Prachya Pinkaew and James Ordonez, etc. He has also composed and conducted numerous concert works including symphonic, vocal and chamber music compositions. His ballet "To Dream of Roses", composed for the Osaka Worlds Fair, was recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, and the American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers. He is a prolific songwriter & producer, and has conducted many prominent orchestras including; The London Symphony Orchestra, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, The Berlin Radio Orchestra, The Munich Symphony, The Dublin Symphony Orchestra, The Moscow Symphony Orchestra, and the London Sinfonia.

2011年製作のアメリカ＝アルゼンチン＝スペイン合作映画。監督・脚本は「キリング・フィールド」(1984)「ミッション」(1986)「シティ・オブ・ジョイ」(1992)「スカーレット・レター」(1995)「グッバイ・ラバー」(1999)「宮廷料理人ヴァテール」(2000)「キャプティビティ」(2007)等のローランド・ジョフィ。出演はチャーリー・コックス、ウェス・ベントレー、ダグレイ・スコット、ウナックス・ウガルデ、オルガ・キュリレンコ、パブロ・ラパデュラ、ゴルシフテ・ファラハニ、ラスティ・レモランド、アナ・トレント、アルフォンソ・バッサヴ、ホルディ・モラ、ロドリゴ・サントロ、ジェラルディン・チャップリン、チャールズ・ダンス、デレック・ジャコビ他。撮影はガブリエル・ベリスタイン。ダン・ブラウンの小説「ダ・ヴィンチ・コード」でも描かれたカトリック教会の組織「オプス・デイ」の創立者である聖ホセマリア・エスクリバー・デ・バラゲル（1902〜1975）の若き日を描いた作品。スペインの内戦を舞台に、ファシストのスパイ、マノロ・トーレス（ベントレー）と、彼の恋人イルディコ（キュリレンコ）、トーレスの友人の司祭ホセマリア（コックス）を巡る愛と裏切りのドラマを描く。
音楽は「ポリスアカデミー」(1984)シリーズ、「ネバーエンディング・ストーリー第2章」(1990)「トイ・ソルジャー」(1991)「バーチャル・ウォーズ2」(1996)「マキシマム・リスク」(1996)等のロバート・フォーク。「Main
Titles」は、ダイナミックかつドラマティックなメインタイトル。切れ目なく続く「Battle
Begins」は、ヒロイックでストイックなマーチの主題で、これが秀逸。このメインの主題が「Killing
Priests」「Hanging Bridge Battle」「Battle for Madrid」「Factory Strike」「Sitting
Ducks」等で何度も繰り返される。「Romance」は、オーケストラとコーラスによるジェントルかつ大らかでドラマティックな主題で、この主題は「More
Dad」「Love & War Finale」「Pray for Him」「Oriol Is Dead」「Who to Kill」「At First
Sight」等でも登場する。「Robert's Investigation」「Franco's Government
Files」は、躍動的でストイックなタッチ。「Change Plans」「Manolo Starts His
Story」「Priest's Calling」「Manolo Meets
Generals」は、ドラマティックでパワフル。「Kidnap & Kill」「Train Station
Patriots」「Then God Is Just」は、ダイナミックでヒロイック。「Lord Open My
Eyes」「The Priest, I Knew Him」は、ストイックなタッチ。「Idilko by the
Lake」は、オーケストラとコーラスにより荘厳に盛り上がる。「A Baby Is Born」「An Epic
Story」は、ジェントルかつ大らかな曲。全編を通してパワフルかつダイナミックな燃えるスコア。ロバート・フォークは1980年代より60本以上の劇場映画のスコアを手がけているベテラン作曲家で、エモーショナルなオーケストラル・スコアを得意とする職人だが、サントラ化されている作品が非常に少ないので、この新作のリリースは貴重。
